First-ever XRPL native smart contracts

For 14 years the XRP Ledger had no native smart contracts — only protocol-level primitives. In November 2025 that changed. AlphaNet runs the first-ever L1 smart contract layer on XRPL, with Smart Escrows (Q1 2026) as the inaugural contract type.

Post-quantum from day one

December 2025 saw CRYSTALS-Dilithium (NIST ML-DSA) integrated into AlphaNet. Ripple has publicly committed to making the XRP Ledger fully quantum-proof by 2028 — AlphaNet is where that work happens first.

XRPL primitives, supercharged

AlphaNet inherits XRPL's existing primitives — MPTokens, Permissioned Domains, DIDs, AMM, Pathfinding — and composes them with programmable smart contract logic. The result: real-world asset platforms with both compliance and programmability.
